At Cathedral Dental,  Dr Vishal Patel can help patients with multiple missing teeth regain their smile and their confidence with implant-retained dentures.

What are implant-retained dentures?

Implant-retained dentures offer patients a secure, effective, and comfortable way to replace a row of missing or soon-to-be extracted teeth. Using implants that are affixed to the jawbone and a set of dentures that are secured atop them, implant-retained dentures avoid the dangers of slippage you often get with traditional dentures. They also have a much more natural-looking appearance.

Why choose implant retained dentures?

Implant-retained dentures present a secure and comfortable replacement option when it comes to multiple missing teeth. We always recommend replacing missing teeth wherever possible, as not doing so can lead to further oral health issues in the future. Missing teeth can also cause a loss of confidence in the patient and feelings of unhappiness about their teeth and smile. At Cathedral Dental, we always want to ensure we’re doing our utmost when it comes to bringing smiles back to our patient’s faces. With implant-retained dentures, we can help improve our patient’s oral health while also enhancing their smiles.

What is the treatment process like?

As with all implant treatments, we’ll first have to make sure you’re a suitable candidate for the treatment. We’ll do this via an X-ray which will help us determine whether there is enough jawbone present to fuse with your new implants safely. If this isn’t the case, then we may offer another option for you or recommend a treatment such as a sinus lift or bone graft.

Once this has been determined, you’ll come back into the practice to have your implants placed. This is done under local anaesthetic, so you won’t feel anything, although you will be aware of what is happening. There will then be a wait of a few months while the jawbone and implants safely and slowly fuse together. During this time, we can provide you with temporary dentures to wear, or you can continue to wear your own if you have them. Once ready, you’ll come back to the practice, and we’ll be able to fit you professionally for your personal implant retained dentures.
