At Cathedral Dental, Dr Vishal Patel and our team of highly-skilled, compassionate dental professionals can help replace a missing tooth with a single-tooth dental implant.

What is a single tooth dental implant?

A Dental Implant is used to replace a single missing or soon-to-be extracted tooth. These are small fixtures made up of titanium that are placed in the jaw bone. A laboratory-made porcelain crown is then placed on top of the dental implant. Stable, secure, and extremely natural-looking, single tooth dental implants offer a highly popular and effective way to restore a tooth that needs replacing.

Why choose a single-tooth dental implant?

We always recommend replacing a missing or soon-to-be-extracted tooth. Not only can it help prevent further oral health issues from occurring, but it can also help restore a patient’s confidence in their smile. Single-tooth dental implants aren’t suitable for every patient – there is a requisite amount of jawbone necessary for the treatment to be successful – but they do present a highly effective and aesthetically pleasing option for those they are suitable for.

What is the treatment process like?

As with most implant treatments, receiving a single-tooth dental implant will likely take place over several months. After determining that you are a suitable candidate for this treatment, you’ll return to the practice to first have the titanium implant placed into your jawbone. This will be done under local anaesthetic, so you won’t feel a thing. We will then need to wait a few months for the surrounding bone to fuse against the dental implant before rehabilitating it with a laboratory-made porcelain crown. In the meantime, a temporary denture or bridge can be used. Once the healing process finishes, you will return to the practice, where a permanent porcelain crown will be fitted to the dental implant.
